Why Volunteer?

Volunteering connects you to your community and gives you a sense of belonging and purpose. Although age doesn’t determine your ability to volunteer, a lot of our volunteers have retired here and are capable people who have lots of time on their hands and we are the lucky benefactors of their efforts. We like to help and support people in our community and it's that compassion that makes the difference.

So if you hate sitting around and you’re ready to get stuck in, come and visit us or give us a call.

We’re always open to volunteers especially in our driving service so if you are physically strong (capable of assisting someone to hop out of a vehicle if they need it) love a bit of banter while you’re out on errands with someone and have a kind heart we’d love to hear from you.

We also have roles around the Foxton Beach Community Centre, in our opshop and behind the scenes as well

You could volunteer whatever hours suit you right here at the Foxton Beach Community Centre and we are flexible, if you know someone who would be great at any of these let them know, we’re a friendly bunch and get a lot out of running the centre for our community.

Goods Needed

We’re always looking for quality goods for our opshop and garage sale. The garage sale is a great spot for those bigger items taking up too much space at your place but with lots of life still in them. We hold our garage sale weekly on a Saturday morning and it’s really well attended, a great spot to come for a treasure hunt and see who’s about.

If you are wishing to donate furniture/beds/fridges/washing machines etc - please call the Centre first.

We can then make contact with you and let you know if we currently have the space to take these items and if they are suitable for us to on-sell.

Wednesday morning is usually a good time for us to receive smaller household items.
